The Acoustic Camera is used to determine noise sources from medium sized objects like combustion motors, car panels, etc.

Method

There are several methods to determine the noise sources on an object. IBEM, PNAH, HELS, steerable arrays, etc. We use the direct method.
This method measures directly the particle velocity and sound pressure close to the surface and with that, all acoustic properties are known.
So nothing has to be calculated, (back) propagated etc. The method is fast (no calculations) and accurate because nothing is calculated but all is measured.
The sound radiation (i.e. the active sound intensity) is determined based on the measured sound pressure and particle velocity.
