PU-Mini Sound Probe

The PU-mini comes with:

  • Signal conditioner with an option for correcting the frequency and phase response

  • Powering module

  • Sensor cable

  • Option for 12V powering

  • A protective metal case is provided to ensure that the probe is not damaged when it's not in use.

Use
 

The functionality of the ½" PU-mini probe is similar to the ½" probe. It measures both particle velocity and sound pressure and the ½" package has a gain of 10dB. The probe is made smaller and is designed for the use in arrays. However it is also used as a single sound intensity probe because its smaller size.

Its use is mainly for array applications but it is also use when the regular ½" PU probe is too large and the PU-match is too fragile.

The 1/2" packaging has an acoustic gain of 10dB. This has the result that the selfnoise improves 10dB but that the upper sound limit decreases 10dB to 120dB. The 1/2" package has no influence of the sound field below 10kHz and therefore the use of the ½” PU-mini probe recommended below 10kHz.

Because of the dimensions this probe are similar to a half-inch pressure microphone, all standard mountings and windshields can be used.
Because the sound pressure and particle velocity are directly available the data aquisition is relatively simple, it can for instance be done with the use of a sound card of a personal computer.
