Distilled Water
Distilled water is typically used to calibrate the low end of a
refractometer scale. B+S offer a UKAS certified version for validation
of equipment under controlled conditions such as installation validation
within the pharmaceutical industry. |

AG Fluids
AG Fluids are an organic solution calibrated in °Brix and RI and have a
long shelf life. AG Fluids provide a low cost alternative to sucrose
solutions especially as they can be supplied in multi-packs of 5 or 20
5ml bottles. AG Fluids are especially suited for calibrating
refractometers used as part of a system to determine alcohol in beer and
wine as well as for instruments used in the beverage packing industry. |

Sucrose Solutions
Sucrose solutions are an extremely easy to use medium for verifying and
calibrating refractometers measuring in the Brix scale, as no special
consideration is required when testing instruments at ambient
temperature fitted with ATC. Sucrose solutions are typically used in the
food, beverage and sugar industry. |

Calibration Oils
Calibration Oils are one of the most commonly used materials for
calibrating refractometers as they have good traceability, particularly
to NIST. Having a high temperature co-efficient, calibration oils are
used where strict temperature control is adopted, either by Peltier or
external waterbath between 20 and 75°C. Typical applications include
those in the confectionery, edible oil and mineral oil marketplaces. |

Solid Test Plates
Solid test plates are precision ground optical components that can
be placed on the prism of a refractometer to provide a reading of
traceable value. |
