Features & Benefits

  • Designed to measure specifically the VICAT softening point of polymers on six independent test stations using heated contact surfaces instead of oil.

  • This technique allows testing to be performed up to 500°C.

  • Cooling time is halved compared to the traditional oil based systems. This allows for rapid turn-around of testing on the instrument and makes it particularly interesting for production and quality testing.

  • Available as a stand-alone instrument, controlled by microprocessor and soft-touch keyboard, the VICAT 500-D may also be PC controlled using the dedicated software VisualTHERM.

  • Meets ISO, ASTM, and other standards.

CEAST program for measuring of the thermal properties of materials include a wide range of instruments and with particular reference to the determination of the HDT (heat deflection temperature) and the Vicat softening temperature, CEAST is proposing a new generation of instruments, oil free, able to test materials at temperatures up to 500°C. These instruments (Vicat 500-D, HDT Vicat 500 Aloxide) were designed to meet the growing demand for testing on the new advanced high performances materials appeared on the market (i.e. PEEK).
