Features & Benefits

Fully automatic pendulum with robotic movement for consecutive tests on up to 500 Charpy or Izod specimens, according to ISO, ASTM and equivalent standards. Five models are available and include:

  • Fully automatic Resil Impactor

  • Automatic movement of the specimens into and out of the vice

  • Pre-test measurement of the specimens

  • Integrated electrical and electronic control unit Optional equipment includes thermo-cryostatic chamber (-70°C to +150°C), automatic specimen temperature detection before impact, measurement of hammer velocity before impact, and an optical device for determining type of failure.

  • The basic thermoregulation system is based on liquid nitrogen.

  • Alternative system based on liquid CO2 available.

  • The most advanced solution is based on an air-circulation non-CFC conditioning unit.

  • Dedicated software controls the instrument and handles data from both instrumented and non-instrumented impact events. Compatible with all Windows® operating systems.

CEAST is proposing a wide range of instruments designed to determine the mechanical and physical properties of polymers, composites and finished products for both research and development (R&D) and quality control (QC). The pendulum family was designed in order to perform Charpy, Izod and Tensile impact testing on material specimens according to international standards. It’s possible to choose between not instrumented testing, for the calculation of the resilience, and instrumented testing thus allowing a more complete investigation on the properties of the material which can show a brittle or a ductile behaviour also depending on the test conditions (i.e. temperature).

Furthermore CEAST is proposing a new advanced high energy falling weight instrument suitable for testing on standard specimens and finished products with maximum impact energy up to 1800 J and maximum impact speed up to 24 m/s. CEAST is also proposing other instruments for testing on pipes, for creep and fatigue evaluations.
