Optimal Hardness Tester

Combining the accuracy and precision of a microprocessor controlled instrument with the economy of a manual unit, the Optimal Tablet Hardness Tester offers a top-loading design to provide quick and easy tablet insertion. This tester checks tablet hardness ranging from 0.4 to 35 kiloponds (within ±1% full scale) and features jaws which automatically adjust to various tablet shapes and sizes up to 1.375 inches (34 mm) in diameter.

Test results are reported via a large LED display which can be programmed for kiloponds or Strong-Cobb units. Data can be uploaded to a LIMS or other computer for centralized record keeping or integration into QC reports or spreadsheets via the RS232 port. The Optimal Tablet Hardness Tester’s small footprint (280 x 178mm) fits easily onto even overcrowded bench tops. For simplified calibration, a calibration weight hanger and adjustment tool is included. It also comes with a removable particle catch tray and fragment brush. Specially slotted calibration weights are available.

An optional thermal printer is available for hard copy recording of date, time, hardness value, and statistical summary. Thickness is also reported if the tester is equipped with an optional thickness gauge. This digital, top-mounted option measures tablet thickness down to 0.001 inches, or 0.01 mm. To operate the optional thickness gauge, simply lift the probe, place the tablet on the platform underneath, and release the probe so that it makes contact with the tablet. Tablet thickness is displayed in inches or millimetres.
