RVSM Compliance - Information & Air Data Test Set Solutions
|
In the last 30 years, both civil and military sectors of the aerospace industry have seen unprecedented growth. This has resulted in a sharp increase in global air traffic, with congestion black spots and aircraft near-miss reports increasing worldwide. In an effort to increase the number of available flight paths, Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) regulations are being introduced. The aim of RVSM is to safely reduce the allowable separation between airborne aircraft from the present 2000 feet to 1000 feet (between altitudes of 29,000 feet and 41,000 feet).
After initial trials using the Atlantic Ocean routes, RVSM was introduced to Europe in January 2002. By Nov 2003 the same rules will be applied to Asia and the Pacific rim, and finally the USA in 2004.
