Steam pressures and flow, fuel flows and distribution pressures within the generating station.
High voltage cables - oil and nitrogen gas cooled systems are used on high voltage three phase cables.
Local and telemetry monitoring of the coolant pressures are often required. There are two basic systems:-
a) utilising gauge and absolute pressure measurement devices where the transducers are fitted along the cable with the outputs feeding a telemetry system to show when the pressure drops outside certain limits.
b) three differential pressure measurement devices measure the difference in pressure between each phase, and these values are computed with a single measurement of absolute pressure to give the individual pressure in each phase.
Typical companies using this are the individual boards within the UK, primarily for the first system. The second system has been developed by a number of cable manufacturing
companies.
High Voltage Switchgear
Transducers/Transmitters: PDCR 4000,
PDCR 1830
In high voltage switchgear, the contacts are normally submerged in a pressurised oil filled reservoir. This pressure is essential to keep good insulation properties and it is measured using the PDCR 4000 Series.
Many high voltage transformers are oil filled and the pressure and reservoir levels are monitored using PDCR 1730/PDCR 1830.
