An innovator in separator technology Eriez has become internationally recognised for its use of Eddy current non-ferrous particle separators. They quickly and efficiently separate metallic contaminants from shredded municipal solid waste, shredded automobiles, plastic, rubber, glass, electronic scrap and other products.
-
The non-ferrous metallic separator consists of an external drum, an internal permanent magnetic rotor, a drive and conveyor belt.
-
The external drum shell of non-metallic composite material rotates at conventional belt concepts speed. The internal concentric full diameter Rare Earth alternating polarity rotor turns at much higher rpm than the external shell.
-
Through the induction of eddy currents and the resulting repelling forces, the alternating magnetic field selectively repels the non-ferrous metals and physically separates them from other materials with minimum product loss.
-
The unit operates at high speed and most Eriez Eddy current separators are supplied with a Davidson VMU-3 vibration monitoring unit fitted. Whilst not standard equipment Eriez recommend that a monitoring device be fitted and after extensive testing, the Davidson VMU-3 is the preferred choice. The unit monitors the condition of the main bearing at the Eddy current rotor end and when vibration reaches a pre-determined level an alarm is sounded. If the vibration increases beyond this point a cut-out switch is activated.
